STOCK MARKET
ADDINGTON SALE SOUND VALUES RULE. CATTLE PRICES DOWN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. April 8. The weekly Addington stock market was held today instead of tomorrow because of the Easter holidays. Entries were larger than for some time, and though last week’s improved prices were not fully maintained the sale was sound.
Store sheep comprised a big entry of about 10.000 ewes and 5000 lambs. The latter made to 17s for best carryover sorts, being cheaper than last week. Many coarse-woolled ewes were from the south and from the Chatham Islands; these sold at from 32s to 36s for best two-tooths, and southern Romney four-year-olds brought up to 20s. Fat sheep lost the spectacular advance of last week over the first part of the sale, but improved later. Best wethers made from 33s to ,365. good 28s to 325, and light down to 21s. Fat cattle comprised a larger entry, much good quality being included. The market was down by 10s to 15s a head on the good rates of last week. An oversupply of porker pigs met with a drop in values of from 8s to 10s a head, but baconers improved by ss.
