OBITUARY
MRS JAMES HERDMAN. After a serious illness, extending over the past 12 months, there died at Palmerston North Hospital yesterday a very old and respected settler in die person of Mrs James Herdman, who lived in Carterton for many years. Her husband, who predeceased her 20 years ago,.was the first gas manager of the Carterton Municipal Gasworks. Deceased was born in England 81 yetws ago, and came out to New Zealand years ago with her husband and family, taking up their residence m Napier. Deceased was universally respected, and during her residence in Cartcrlon was associated with many local institutions, and was an ardent churcn member. Deceased is survived by a family nf four daughters—Mesdames Tinkler F. A. Deller ("Wairewa,” Maryborough), Scott (Weraros, Levin), and Edmondson (Plimmerton), and three sons —Messrs William i Carterton). James (Palmerston North', and John (Glen Oroua). The funeral will take place tomorrow at the Clareville Cemetery after a short service at St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
