TRAFFIC TO FRANCE
STATEMENT BY MR. DALTON. GROUNDS SEEN FOR GRAVE DISSATISFACTION. ' (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Dav. 12.10 p.m.) RUGBY. April 8. Asked in the House of Commons whether in view of the facts that, the traffic between Africa and France was nearly normal, that (he weekly cross- ' Ings averaged 75. and that ships passed Gibraltar from Dakar. .Morocco, IndoChina and the Antilles largely unchallenged. he would take steps to tighten the blockade, the Minister of Economic Warfare (Mr. Dalton) said that while he was not. prepared to accept all these statements, the present state of affairs gave grounds for grave dissatisfaction. The British Government had in no degree waived its belligerent rights, and wherever interception was prac- 1 ticablc. blockade-runners were brought! into British control bases and both, ships and cargoes seized. Ho was in I constant communication with the First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. Alexander) | regarding measures for the strict en-j forcement of the blockade.
