The signature of the Soviet Union's Pact of Friendship and Non-aggression with Yuoslavia has been acclaimed throughout the British Press as a highly important event. Prominence is given to Moscow Press comments. The “Izvestia” remarks: “Any act that is directed toward a strengthening of peace coincides with the undeviating aims of Soviet foreign policy.” The “Pravda” says: “This document of peace will be greeted-by the workers of the Soviet Union with the greatest satisfaction.” The London’ “Times” says that the signature of the pact at the very hour of the Nazi invasion through it may have no practical sequel, is “a magnificent gesture of goodwill in a moment of crisis.” It adds, “Recent events have shown that M. Stalin is an astute observer of the international scene, and his swift reaction to Herr Hitler’s latest aggression will make its impression throughout the Ne'ar East.”
