BRITISH BATTLESHIP

ARRIVAL IN NEW YORK U COLLISION MAT AMIDSHIPS. VESSEL MAY BE DOCKED AT BROOKLYN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK. April 7. News of the arrival here of a British battleship can now be published. The “Herald-Tribune” describes the ship as being of the Queen Elizabeth class, probably the Malaya. Apparently the vessel is holed, because a big collision mat is visible amidships. It is understood that she intends refuelling and might later be docked in the Brooklyn navy yard. The news agencies this evening were requested not to publish the arrival, but dozens of sailors wearing “H.M.S. Malaya” caps visited Times Square and bought cigarettes with Gibraltar money.
