HOMING PIGEONS

MASTERTON CLUB. RACE FROM NAPIER. The race from Napier held by the Masterton Homing Pigeon Club was won by W. J. Miller. The weather was fine with the visibility excellent, but a stiff south-westerly wind slowed the birds up. By flying the airline distance of 125 miles in 3 hours 49 mm. !6 see., W. J. Miller’s "Aberfcldy" debated I. Mayes's "Telephone” by two ninutes. This is the second week in succession that W. Miller has gained first place. Nine out of the 12 birds liberated by '.he stationmaster at 11 a.m. were home : n race time, and most members had good trappings. Below are the six ifficial club placing's for points:—W. J. Miller's "Abcrfelcly,” 566 yards per minute: I. Mayes's "Telephone," 961 yards per minute; J. Mayes's “Blue Jiri," 958 yards per minute; R. Stewirt’s “Imperial." 948 yards per minute; I. Mayes's “Electra." 944 yards per minite ;W. Miller’s “Dunkeld,” 938 yards per minute. In the points competition. R. Stewart 's still leading with 52 points from I Mayes, who has 48. W. J. Miller is hird with 38. As there are only three aces to be decided before the close of he season, the competition has reached m interesting stage. . The next race will be from Napier, each member putting in one bird. The firds will be liberated at 10-minute in,ervals, starting at 8 a.m,
