FIVE FOOT SHARK
PULLED ASHORE WITH BARE HANDS. SOUTH AFRICAN'S EXPLOIT. Mr. Eddie Scott, of Sea Point, South Africa, dived into the sea after a sft. shark and brought, it to the shore. This happened at Hout Bay where fishermen were landing thousands of fish in nets. The nets contained a number of fairly large sharks, about five feet long. A big wave washed one of the sharks out of the net. Mi-. Scoll (“Scotty" to his friends), who was standing nearby in his bathing costume and helping to pull in the net. dived after the shark without a moment's hesitation. He caught, hold of the tail, on to which he held with all his strength. A terrific struggle ensued as the shark made frantic efforts to escape, and Mr. Scott at times lost, his footing and disappeared beneath the surface of the water’ But he held on and slowly., but surely, pulled the shark nearer to the shore.
Quite a crowd was present to see the conquering hero eventually pull the shark on to the beach. He was panting and gasping for breath, but he had got his shark! "I did it quite on the spur of the moment.” said Mr. Scott to his excited friends.
