WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Women’s - Institute was held in the Memorial - Hall when the president (Mrs Spicer) s presided ovex- a large attendance. s The following were elected officers r for the ensuing year;—President, Mrs x Spicer; treasurer, Mrs Lovegrove; se- - cretary, Mrs Priest, all the above being-re-elected. The committee elected were 3 Mesdames Atkinson, Carter, Gray, t Gaudin, Lovegrove, Marshall, Macdon- - aid, S. Mclntosh. Priest, Seward and I Sutton. Visitors were present from Kahutara j and Martinborough. I Mrs Wrigley gave a demonstration > on dressmaking which proved most . interesting and she was accorded a. . hearty vote of thanks. Miss Hanlon and Mrs Seward were 1 appointed delegates to attend the Federation meeting in Masterton next month. Points prizes fox- the yeax- were awarded to Mrs Marshall with Mrs Spicex- second. Mrs McKenna, of the Kahutara branch congratulated the Institute on the progress it had made during the past year. Votes of thanks were passed to all those who had given their services during the year. The hostesses were members of the committee. Personal Items. Mrs A. H. Wax-ren has returned from Hastings. Mrs T. Te Maori, who has been in Hawke’s Bay, has returned home'. The many friends of Mi- George Elliot will be pleased to learn that he has left the Wellington Hospital where he has been an inmate fox* some time. His health has greatly improved. Mi- A. Linton, who recently was an inmate of the Greytown Hospital, is x’ecuperating at Paraparaumu Beach. Mr J. P. McMaster, who underwent a serious operation in Wellington, is progressing favourably. Mi- D. J. Mclntosh and his son, Constable C. Mclntosh, have returned from a visit to Dannevirke. Miss J. Scrimgeour has returned from Masterton, after an absence of six weeks from the district. Mrs Southey is visiting hex- parents in Masterton. Mx- and Mrs A. D. McMastex- are visiting Wellington. Mr A. Crosbie, Tuhitarata, has re- i turned from a' visit to Wellington. Mr Martin Hume, of the Air Force, is expected home this week on leave. Euchre Party and Dance. A euchre party and dance was. held • in the Memorial Hall on Saturday : evening. There was a very large at- ( tendance. First prizes in euchre were won by Mr and Mrs Waaka Taylor, second • prizes'going to Miss Purnell and Mr J. • Kohai. j Competitions were won by Miss < Florence Tilson and Mi- Don O’Brien j (Monte Carlo), and Mr and Mrs A. C. Burling (Monte Carlo), Mr Graham Cardnb (ham), Miss Topsy Tilson and Mr Sam Sutton (chocolates). The dance music was supplied by a local orchestra while Mi* S. Mclntosh acted as M.C.
