WOMEN’S DIVISION

MAURICEVILLE-IHURAUA. ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age" Special.) Miss Heckler presided over a good attendance al the annual meeting of the Mauriceville-Ihuraua branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union held in the Mauriceville East Hall. Members welcomed Miss Heckler's return after an absence of several | months through sickness. The president gave a brief report on I the work of the past year and the ' secretary presented the balance sheet I showing that the financial position was very satisfactory. A vote of thanks was I passed to Mr A. Forsberg for auditing the books. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs W. Cheetham; vice-presidents, Miss Heckler, Mrs P. E. Mortensen. Mrs D. Brunton, Mrs E. H. Dagg and Mrs J. Milner; advisory members. Miss Heckler and Mrs A. Forsberg; delegates to council. Mrs E. H. Dagg and Mrs Nikolaison; delegate to conference, Mrs H. Trass; secretary, Miss E. Dagg. It was decided to hold meetings every second month in future, the subdistricts to hold their sewing meetings, etc., as usual. The next meeting will be at Mauriceville West. The competitions resulted as follow: —Points for the past year. Mrs W. Cheetham; best bloom. Mrs C. Judd; wandering shilling, Miss M. Tildesley. Miss Heckler, who has retired as president owing to ill-health, was presented with a crystal water set as a token of esteem. Mrs D. Brunton referred to Miss Heckler as a tower of strength to the Division and expressed the hope that the time was not far distant when she would be able to take an active part in its affairs once more. Miss Heckler also received a beautiful bouquet of roses the work of Mrs Forsberg. Miss Heckler briefly replied. The secretary received a gift from the past president. A "bring and buy” stall did brisk business. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mrs Duncan ana her helpers.
