LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST rapid improvement. FINE PERIOD IN PROSPECT. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— GENERAL SITUATION: A weak disturbance is passing over the North Island. FORECAST: Decreasing southerly winds; a few showers at first, chiefly in the high country and on the East Coast but conditions improving rapidly and becoming fair during tomorrow. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Winds turning to west and weather becoming fine.
