At the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday the Te Mahanga Handicap went to an outsider in Lambourn, who won easily from another outsider, Native Song. The Juvenile Handicap was a gift for the favourite Burra Sahib. <- The favourite, Dravane, won the Cup at the Waimate meeting, defeating Cymric by 14 lengths. The first six races were won by the favourites. Heidelberg accounted for the President’s Handicap at the Birchwood Hunt Club’s meeting.
