HOMING PIGEONS
MASTERTON CLUB TEAMS' RACE. WON BY W. J. MILLER. The race from Waipawa (88 miles) on Saturday was a successful one for W. J. Miller. His first bird arrived at 2.23 p.m., taking 2 hours 23 min. 49 sec. for the race, and his second bird homed 10 minutes later, the combined time of the two being 4 hours 52 min. 31 see„ thus defeating I. Mayes s team by 2 min. 6 sec. The birds homed in two groups, with ten minutes between them, and members experienced good , trapping Below are the names of the four teams which successfully completed the course: — ..... , W. J. Miller's “Dunkeld and "Dunblane.” 4.52.31. 1. I. Mayes's "Master Reliance" and “Elector." 4.54.37. 2. A. Pinkney’s "Airline" and “Miss Valerie." 4.58.30, 3. R. Stewart's "Imperial" and "Gay Buzzer,” 5.51.12. 4. R. Stewart is still leading in the points competition. He now has 47 points against I. Mayes’s 39 points. The next race will be from Napier, an airline distance of 125 miles.
