OPEN APPLE TART

FOR THURSDAY'S DINNER. Roll out some puff pastry to about. 4 inch thick and cut into a large round. Peel, core, and slice as many apples as required to fit on top of pastry, having 2 layers and leaving about 1 inch from the edge of pastry. Sprinkle apples with sugar, a little ground cinnamon, and a few sultanas or raisins. Dot with small bits of butter, using about 1 tablespoon for a large tart. Bake in a hot oven for about 45 minutes, decreasthe heat after pastry is well, risen round the edges. Cut into wedge shapes and serve hot or cold.
