THESE WILL BE FOUND USEFUL. Add a sprig or two of parsley to the cabbage, cauliflower, silver beet, when cooking. It greatly improves the flavour. A pinch of bi-carbonate of soda added to salad dressings prevents them from curdling. Add half a cup of milk to the water when cooking cauliflower, it. makes it white and gives it a delicious flavour. The icing for your cakes will not crack if you add a dessert spoon of condensed milk to the other ingredients. 3 Pour boiling water over oranges before peeling them for fruit salads, etc., arid the pith will come away very easily. A good batter for frying fish and meats can be made with self raising flour and custard powder. This saves using eggs. Never throw away the rinds of lemons. Grate them, add sugar, and store them for use in flavouring cakes or puddings. To avoid the yolks of preserved eggs breaking, always break the egg at the pointed end, then the yolks will turn out intact. When cooking rice you can keep the grain separate and firm by adding a tablespoon of cold water and a good dash of salt, when the rice is half cooked.
