TENNIS CLUE PRESENTATION TO SECRETARY. (“Times-AKe" Special.) Mr Jack Shirtcliife, who is leaving the district, was the recipient of a parting gift from the Tennis Club, of which he has held the position of secretary for the past three years. The president of the Club, Mrs George, in making the presentation, thanked Mr Shirtcliife for all he had done for the Tennis Club. The club, she said, regretted losing such a tennis enthusiast. Mr Shirtcliife replied. Tennis Results. Local tennis championship results ‘ Men’s singles. J. Hull; runner-up. H. Burch. Ladies' singles. Miss S. Napier; runner-up Mrs Harcombe. Ladies’ doubles, Mrs Burch and Mrs McKay; runners-up. Mrs Low and Mrs Hui-; combe. Men’s doubles. Mr Low and J. Hull; runners-up. L. Smith and Heckler. Combined doubles. Mrs McKay and H. Murch; runners-up, R. Low and Mrs Harcombe. House Destroyed. During Thursday night Mr and Mrs L. Fearne, of Alfredton. had the misfortune to have their house burned to the ground. All they saved was a few blankets. The furniture was covered by insurance. Personal. Mrs W. Hood and Miss Mavis Edmonds are spending a few days in Levin. Mrs Kennedy. who has been the guest of Mrs George, has returned to Auckland.
