PATRIOTIC EFFORT SUBSTANTIAL SUM RAISED. ("Times-Age” Special.) A sum of £ 1017 4s Id was raised by the Castlepoint District Patriotic Committee as the area’s contribution toward the £l,OOO 000 appeal. The money has been allocated to the Queen Carnival. Considerable satisfaction is felt in the Tinui district at the success of the appeal locally. The receipts from the booth and competitions on Tinui Sports Day were £l6l Is 6d. the R.S.A. concert realised £27 15s 6d. the sale of flag £4lB 6s, donations brought in £126 Ils Id and proceeds from the sale of stock £283 10s, making a total of £lOl7 4s Id. In addition the ladies of the district held a shop day in Masterton which brought in £32. At a meeting of the Castlepoint Patriotic Committee this week the secretary was instructed to write to the Tinui Foresters’ Sports Club, thanking it for its assistance in connection with the raising of this sum. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr J. B. Moodie for auctioning a flag on sports day.
