TOBACCO COMPANY
ACTION UNDER TRUSTS ACT. SUGGESTED BY LABOUR MEMBER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Immediate steps “in the interests of the tobacco consumers to have that branch of the international tobacco trust which is operating in this Dominion under the trade name of W. D. and H. O. Wills (N.Z.). Limited, placed under the provisions of the Commercial Trusts Act." were suggested by Mr McKeen (Government. Wellington South) in a question to the Minister of Industries and Commerce. Mr Sullivan, of which he gave notice. "Many traders throughout the Dominion.” said Mr McKeen. “are complaining of unfair treatment meted out by this tobacco company, specially in regard to prices and trade discounts. and in the circumstances they feel they have no redress unless brought directly under the Commercial Trusts Act."
