CENTRAL SCHOOL
' PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEASON’S DANCES. The committee of the Central School Parents’ Association which has been in recess since November, 1940. held its first meeting of the year at the Central School last evening. Mr W. Emerson presided. The treasurer, Mr E. C. Coddington, reported on the finances of the association which were very satisfactory. A letter was received from Mr and Mrs A. Dixon, expressing with regret that owing to health reasons they wished the committee to accept their resignations. Mr and Mrs Dixon expressed the hope that the association would continue to prosper .and that in the future they would again offer their services. It was decided to accept both resignations with sincere regret and the secretary was instructed to write thanking both Mr and Mrs Dixon for the very good work they had. performed since the inception of the Parents’ Association in May, 1936. The secretary, Mr P. H. Shaw, reported on the booking of an orchestra and dates for dances during the coming winter months. It was decided that, dances commence on Saturday, April 19, with Barnes’s full orchestra, dances to be held fortnightly thereaftei - as in previous years. Details regarding advertising, sign boards, etc., were left in the hands of Mr Shaw and Mr M. Nicol.
A sub-committee was set up to go into the question of filling vacancies, on the committee, and it was hoped to co-opt the services of willing helpers who had been of great assistance in the past. The next meeting of the committee will be held early in April.
