CONFRONTING JAPAN ARMY GROUP OFFERS ASSISTANCE. SUPPORT FOR IMPERIAL RULE ASSOCIATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) TOKIO, March 19. A Japanese Army group today offered definite support to the Imperial Rule Assistance Association, a cabinet advisory organisation, dedicated to building “A new domestic structure for the country.” The Army co-operation was offered by Colonel Kenryo Sato, the newlyappointed Director of the War Office’s military affairs section, who instructed regimental commanders from all parts of Japan to urge ex-Servicemen to join the Association work and become its propelling force. The newspaper “Asahi,” commented: “For the first time, the Army has requested positive co-operation and has come forward to strengthen the Imperial Rule Association.” Referring to impending political and governmental changes, the authoritative “Japan Times” said: “The recent trend of conditions at home and abroad has added urgency to the need for strengthening the power of the Government, so as to make it capable of dealing efficiently with the multitude of problems confronting it."
