FINAL NIGHT

CLOSING OF QUEEN CARNIVAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR FRIDAY EVENING. PROCEEDINGS AT MUNICIPAL HALL. Arrangements for the final night of the Masterton Queen Carnival, which will close on Friday evening, have been completed. It is hoped that no efforts will be spared to make the final night a huge success from every standpoint and it is expected that the spirit of friendly rivalry and good-natured competition now in evidence will be maintained right to the closing.minute. The doors of the Municipal Hall, where the closing of the campaign will take place, will open at 7 p.m. The Masterton Municipal Band will play in the streets and outside the hall between 7 and 8 p.m. The available stall space in the Municipal Hall has been divided into three equal parts and representatives of each queen committee have drawn for positions. Each queen committee may make what use it likes of its own area but it is recommended that the fullest possible advantage be taken to run stalls, games, etc., so that a real carnival spirit will prevail. No programme of any description will be run from the stage during the evening. Each queen committee will be responsible for erecting and dismantling and cleaning away its own stalls, etc., and committees are asked to refrain from using megaphones or loud speakers during the evening.

Each committee is to be absolutely certain that all accounts owing by it are paid or full allowance made for them before final payment is made to the treasurer, otherwise such committee will be held responsible, 'as according to regulations no refunds can be made. A board will be erected on the stage on which the position of each queen candidate and number of votes each will be clearly indicated. The votes are to be counted and the board altered every .15 minutes and all announcements will be made per medium of a loud speaker installed on the I stage.

Office accommodation for the Queen Carnival secretary and treasurer will be provided in the Borough Council offices. Each queen committee is to be ready at the secretary's office to hand over the final payment promptly at 10 p.m. Immediately the figures have been checked the result will be announced and the successful queen and other candidates presented to the public.
