SWIMMING

GIRL GUIDES ANNUAL SPORTS AT MASTERTON. LIST OF PRIZE WINNERS. The annual Girl Guides swimming 'ports were held .on Saturday, in the Wairarapa College Baths. All the events were keenly contested. Among those present were the Mayoress, Mrs. T. Jordan, Mrs. A. W. McKenzie (District Commissioner), ladies of the Girl Guide Executive, and parents and friends of the J&uides and Brownies. At the conclusion of the sports. Mrs. Jordan, who was presented with a posy by the Tararua Company, presented the prizes. The Welch Cup for inter-company competition, was won by the Tararua Company with 108 points; the Weraiti Company securing 69 points. The prizes donated by the Masterton Guide Executive were won as follows: Most points: Senior, Norma Stains, Tararua Company; junior, Moreen Cruickshank. Tararua Company; Brownies, I. Raines and F. Pickering. Weraiti Pack. After the sports, the ladies’ executive provided those present with afternoon tea at the home of Mrs. C. H. McKenzie. The Guides are indebted to the Masterton Swimming Club for controlling the sports and to the Wairarapa College for the use of the baths. The results were as follow: —Beginners’ race: I. Raine 1, D.
