A conference of moderate politicians from all parties except the National Congress and the Muslim League passed a resolution congratulating Britain on her successes in the Near East and the courageness of the people of the United Kingdom, and requested Britain to state more clearly the terms .on which Dominion status can be achieved, so that India can more enthusiastically support the war effort. The resolution demanded the reconstitution of the Viceroy’s Executive Council on a more popular basis, particularly asking that the Departments of Defence and Finance should be under the control of experienced members. Mr. Kunwar Prasad convened the conference and Mr. Sapru presided.
