Officials of the organisations concerned in the strike at the Hutt Railway Workshops are hopeful that a settlement may be reached within the next day or two. In a joint statement issued today, following discussions with the Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet, the A.S.R.S. and R.T.A. announced that the Government had handed to their representatives the conditions under which the men could resume work, and that the national councils of the two organisations, having approved the conditions, intended to convey them to the men at a special meeting at Hutt Park at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning.
