PERSONAL
The Rev J. E. Lopdell tendered his resignation from the charge of St Stephen’s, Lower Hutt, at a meeting of the Wellington Presbytery on Tuesday night. His retirement from active work in the ministry will take place at the end of March.
The following officers were elected at the annual conference of the United Fire Brigades' Association held at' Blenheim: —President, Mr H. L. Warner (Hawera); vice-presidents, Messrs W. H. Stokes (New Brighton), R. Henderson (Hastings); treasurer, Mr C. A. Osborne (Onehunga). Mr S. Cockcroft, a one-time Rugby representative player, who represented several provinces and also New Zealand, and was formerly a member ol the Masterton seniors, was welcomed by the president, Mr J. W. Heenan, at the annual meeting of the Athletic Football Club last night. The veteran said he had now been attending annual meetings of Rugby clubs for 55 years, and would continue to support the best game the world had produced.
