RIFLE SHOOTING
MASTERTON=OPAKI CLUB C. M. PICKERING WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. H. H. MAWLEY RUNNER-UP. Brilliant sunshine and tricky wind conditions on Saturday made shooting difficult for the championship of the Masterton-Opaki Rifle Club, when C. M. Pickering won by one’ point from H. H. Mawley. The winner of the short range . aggregate and Williams Rose Bowl was H. H. Mawley, C. M. Pickering winning the long range aggregate and Donald Cup. The handicap aggregate over all ranges was won by K. Lambert. W. N. Kummer shot well to win the Minton Memorial Rose Bow]. J. Whiteman shot brilliantly in a shootoff, to win a special trophy. Rifleman E. Wrigley won the long-range sealed handicap trophy presented by President H. H. Mawley. Deputy President R. J. King, who was warmly welcomed by the shooters, presented the trophies to the winners and stressed the importance of members keeping their rifles and range equipment in order in case of any emergency.
