FIRE BRIGADES

CONFERENCE AT BLENHEIM. OPENING PROCEEDINGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. The 62nd annual conference of the United Fire Brigades’ Association was opened this morning when 134 brigades were represented. The subjects on the order paper include emergency precautions and auxiliary lire services. The conference was attended today by Mr J. W. Heenan. Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, and Mr Girling Butcher, Inspector of Fire Brigades. The delegates were accorded an official reception, when admiration of the work of firemen was expressed by several speakers, including Mr Heenan. A telegram was read from the Minister, Mi 1 Parry, emphasising the importance of (he services given by firemen and expressing appreciation of the fine work achieved. The conference will occupy two, possibly three, days.
