CARNIVAL EVENT

SUCCESSFUL GYMKHANA LARGE ATTENDANCE OF PUBLIC. HORSE AND OTHER EVENTS. A successful gymkhana was held in perfect weather at Solway Showgrounds on Saturday by the committee of the Air Force Queen. There was an attendance of about 4.000 people, who gave the Band of the Royal Air Force a splendid reception on their first appearance in Masterton. Five bombers of the R.N.Z.A.F. gave a display of formation flying and aerobatics which heralded appropriately the appearance of the band at 3.30 o'clock. The horse sports included many novelty ‘events which were followed keenly by the crowd. Savage Club members, in amusing fancy dress did a brisk trade in "mystery” parcels.
