Fining Down. Treasurer has not yet reached the sprinting stage, but he is fining down following a solid course of pace work. Treasurer is trained by H. Nurse, and he has not started since the 1938-39 season, when he won two races and was placed in two others in seven starts. He is a six-year-old bay gelding by Paper Money from Sweet Beauty, dam. also of Cottingham. Rebel Star and Palmyra, all winners. Treasurer has the ability, and it is just a question of him remaining sound to win more races.
English Dates. The New Derby and New Oaks are due to be run at Epsom, England, on May 27, the New St. Leger at Doncaster on September 2. the New TwA Thousand Guineas and New OneThousand Guineas at Newmarket on April 29, and the Gold Cup, the New St. James's Palace Stakes, the Queen Mary Stakes and the Coventry Stakes at Ascot on June 17. Under the new powers of the English Jockey Club, these races may be run on any courseselected by the stewards, and on any date subsequent to and within 28 days of the advertised date.
