WEDDING

THOMPSON—DAVIES. Archdeacon E. J. Rich officiated at a pretty wedding at St. Matthew’s Church. Masterton, recently, the contracting parties being Gladys Beatrice, fifth daughter of Mr H. R. and the late Mrs Davies, Amuri, North Canterbury, to Dudley Mervyn, second son of Mr J. and the late Mrs Thompson, Taueru. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr Jojin Carmichael, wore white tulle and taffeta reddingcote over a rucked taffeta slip. Her veil was-held in place by a halo of pleated tulle and orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white baladonna lilies, carnations and maidenhair fern. Her sister, Miss Mildred Davies, attended as bridesmaid. She was charmingly attired in a mist blue floral ninnon frock and wore a picture hat of white crinolin straw trimmed with blue velvet ribbon and flowers to match. Her bouquet was of lilies and maidenhair fern. Mr Reg Duffy was best man. Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. Subsequently a reception was held at the Masonic Hall where the guests were received by the bride’s sister, Mrs Carmichael and the bridegroom’s aunt, Mrs E. J. Loader. The former wore a navy floral frock and white picture hat and carried a posy of autumn tinted marigolds. Mrs Loader was attired in a navy and white figured sheer frock and coat with hat to match. When Mr and Mrs Thompson left for the south the bride travelled in a tailored suit with accessories to tone.
