WORLD WH)E MOVEMENT GATHERING IN KNOX HALL. A RECORD ATTENDANCE. There was a large attendance at Knox Hall. Masterton. yesterday a liternoon in connection with the women's world-wide day of prayer. Six short periods were held, when women from the various Protestant churches led the meeting. The theme for the day was "Thy Kingdom Come.'' and during each period a brief address was given on some aspect of the Kingdom. The present work! conditions, and the p.'iia that women should take in combating those forces of evil that threaten the Kingdom of God were dwelt upon. During one period, a discussion arose regarding some of the methods used) in connection with advancing patriotic schemes, and a unanimous opinion was expressed against young children selling tickets for guessing contests. Ihe beautiful weather, the splendid attendance, and the fine spirit of harmony animating (he whole, resulted it; a .record gathering. Praise was heartj* and there were many earnest prayers for the King and the British Empire, and for the coming of the Kingdom of God. A plate was placed at the door for thanksofferings and the sum of £.5 was realised. This amount is being forwarded through the international missionary council. to assist the thousands of stranded missionaries from enemyoccupied lands.
