ST. MARK’S CHURCH HARVEST THANKSGIVING. Tomorrow harvest thanksgiving services in connection with St. Mark’s Church will be held. Many thanksoffering in the shape of fruit and vegetables have already been pressed. The Clareville School held its annual picnic yesterday, the outing being a very enjoyable one. Thanks arc due to Mrs W. School Committee. The monthly meeting of the Carterton District High School will take place on Monday evening. Personal Items. Messrs C. J. DeLacey, L. Kitchen, R. Farrow, F. Dennes, P. M. Smith and R. Baikie left yesterday for Wellington, where they are representing their respective lodges at the annual District Conference of Odd Fellows (Manchester Unity Order) which is being held in Wellington today. Mr Jas. M. Nicholls, who has-been a judge at poultry and cage bird shows in New Zealand, has an outstanding record in this connection. He started as a judge when a youth and has had 56 years of this work. Mr and Mrs Vai. Lepinski and family left this morning for CastleclifTe, Wanganui, where they will spend a holiday. ' Soldiers on Leave. Many soldiers are on leave from various military camps, spending it with parents and friends in various parts of the district. Entertainment of Soldier. At the Parkvale Hall on Wednesday next, the Parkvale district residents will hold a dance at which they will entertain Lance Corporal J. L. Milne. During the evening a presentation will be made to the guest of honour. Good music, supper and floor is assured. Parkvale residents are noted for their hospitality to soldiers and the function on Wednesday is sure to be a success. Dance at Belvedere. The Belvedere Schoolroom should be filled on Wednesday evening when the Belvedere residents will hold a dance in honour of Staff Nurse J. Bond. Good music and supper will be supplied and patrons are assured of good entertainment.
