In Italian Somaliland, states the 8.8. C., several thousands of prisoners have already been taken, besides a large quantity of war material. The brilliant and rapid advance of the British troops has completely demoralised the Italian forces, which are now surrendering- voluntarily in large numbers. The British forces entered Mogadishu without encountering- active opposition from the enemy. The advance was so swift that the town suffered little damage. General Smuts has sent a message to the officer commanding heartily congratulating him on his brilliant success.
