FEATHERSTON
I PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE ENJOYABLE SOCIAL GATHERING ("Times-Age" Special.) The Patriotic Committee hold a social gathering in the Office's Room at the Anzac Hall last night. After the singing ot ilic Nation:*) Anthem mid "God Defend New Zealand.” a community sing was held, the accompaniments being played by .Mrs A. Donald. Miss J. Allen gave a much appreciated vocal item. During the evening the Mayor. Mr J. W. Card, asked Messrs W. H. Rowles and D. Cross, of the Air Force, to accept the usual gift of money accompanied with, the best wishes of the committee. The supper arrangements were in the hands of the Patriotic Junior Social Committee. Dancing was enjoyed to music played by Mrs Moran. The funeral of the late Mr Duncan C. Kibblewhite took place yesterday at the Featherston Cemetery and was largely attended. The services at the Presbyterian Church and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. R. S. Keenan, assisted by the Rev. J. C. D. .Madill (Christchurch) a brother-in-law of deceased, and the Rev. W. C. R. Madill (Martinborough), a nephew of the deceased. The pall-bearers were: Messrs Arch. Clark. G. Yule, T. Hardie, H. C. Hunter. K. Allen and T. Lang. Among others, wreaths were sent by the following: Horticultural Society, Featherston Golf Club, Bank of Australasia. Featherston, Bank of Australasia. Temuka, Bank of New Zealand, Temuka. Presbyterian Church, and R.S.A The late Mr Kibblcwhite leaves a daughter and two sons. His wife predeceased him some years ago. National Savings. The person who opened inc 400th National Savings Account at the Featherston Post Office on Wednesday afternoon. and thereby won the hamper donated by Mr Ned Perry, desires to remain anonymous and directed that the hamper should be presented to the person who opens the 500th National Savings Account, thereby sustaining the keen interest which has been manifested since the inception c-f the scheme locally. Mrs O. K. Burt, South Feathers-ten. is another to whom a full measure of praise should be accorded for her efforts in connection with the campaign. The Post Office officials particularly, are enthusiastic over her work in this respect.
