MEAT STORAGE

INCREASED ACCOMMODATION AT WAINGAWA. WORK WELL UNDER WAY. Tiie provision of additional cool storage accommodation at Messrs Thomas Borthwick and Sons’ Waingawa Works is well under way. Work is being carried out on a building partly erected during the last war to provide for a similar situation. This building, which had remained uncompleted until about a year ago. was then made capable of holding about 60.000 or 70.000 freight carcases. The work at present in hand includes the insulating of the space immediately beneath the roof and it is expected that by this means further storage capacitty will be available for 50.000 freight carcases.
