Approximately 1030 rams were penned at the annual ram fair held in Dannevirke. In the Romney section competition was good for quality rams, but for poor lines little enthusiasm was shown. With the Southdowns a keen lone prevailed for all classes, a good sale resulting, specially for the better quality rams. In the Dannevirke and District A. and P. Association's show pens, judged at the sale yards today in conjunction with the sale because of the military occupation of the showgrounds, the following awards were made: — Romneys, open (judge, Mr. W. Tod. Otane). —One-shear stud ram: Wairarapa Training Farm (Masterton). 1; H. Haycock 'Dannevirke). 2; R. R. P. Hardy (Featherston). 3. Four oneshear flock rams: G. E. Allen and Sons (Masterton). 1: J. Campbell (Mt. Bruce 2: K. Allen (Taratahi). 3.

Southdowns, open (Judge, Mr. R. M. Perry, Masterton). —Four one-shear flock rams: N. J. Cullinane (Oringi). 1: Estate H. T. James (Dannevirke). 2; Mr H. M. Weber (Dannevirke). 3. The lop price for flock Romneys was ISgns.. obtained by A. G. Wyeth (Gladstone) for a one-shear ram. Lowpriced Romneys ranged from 3 to sgns.. but passings were frequent.
