GREYTOWN
RETURNED SOLDIERS MEMBER ENTERTAINED. ("Times-Zige” Special.) The Greytown Branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association held a party in the Fire Station last evening when the guest of honour was Mr G. R. Robinson, who is leaving to reside in Christchurch. Mr J. W. Herod presided and a real "Diggers" night was enjoyed. In proposing the health of their I guest. Mr J. Herod spoke of the good : work which Mr Robinson had done j for the branch in his capacity as secrei tan- for the past three years. ' Miss Higginson then presented Mr j Robinson with a gold mounted founi tain pen on behalf of the "Diggers." Messrs S. Shedden, J. C. Feast and H. G. Carter also spoke of the interest Mr Robinson had taken in public affairs. Mr Robinson was a member of the School Committee, of the Golf Club I Committee and was joint secretary of i the Greytown Patriotic Committee. : In reply Mr Robinson said that his I stay in Greytown had been a happy one and anything he had done in the public interest had been a pleasure. Musical items were rendered by Messrs Shedden and Dewhirst. QUEEN CARNIVAL SUCCESSFUL SHOP DAY. In spite of the wet weather the shop day held yesterday by the Town Queen Committee was most successful. The cake was won by Mr H. G. Carter. KAI TORA GIRLS’ CLUB PATRIOTIC FUND DANCE. — The Kai Torn Girls' Club will hold | a dance in the Odd Fellows' Hall. I Greytown, tonight, in aid of the Patriotic Funds. Te Tau's Orchestra will supply the music, and no effort is being spared to make the gathering successful. The dances held by the club have in the past provided a maximum of enjoyment, and the members are particularly attentive to requirements of patrons.
