HARDSHIP ON V.A.D'S. — ] (To the Editor.) i Sir.—While 1 consider that the train-) ing of V.A.D's. in connection with the : present war is to be commended there.' arc aspects of the matter which may! have been overlooked. For instance; after a certain amount of training a! voluntary nurse is required to give her. services for a week at the hospital, re-j eeiving no pay. and two meals and. having to find and pay for accommoda-j lion in Mastertcn. Now for a young! girl from the country, possessing no income and no friends willing to board ] her free for a week, it will be seen, that there is a distinct hardship creat-1 cd. To overcome this could not the' church to which the V.A.D. belongs as-i sist in the matter by finding her free I accommodation among their members? ' It must also be taken into account that! the V.A.D. every time she comes into’ Masterton has to pay her train or' motor service fare and incidental ex-’ penses.—l am, etc..
