SEWERAGE EFFLUENT
DISCHARGED INTO BOROUGH STREAM. POSITION BEING REMEDIED. A sewerage effluent from the tank • installed at "Panama.” Ngaumutawa } Road, the property of the late Mr A. P. Whatman, which was converted into a convalescent home, was discharging into a stream running through the Borough area, according to a report which came before yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. The county health inspector, Mr Truman. advised that this sewerage must be connected with the borough system. Tenders of £262 and £392 had been received for linking the Home with the borough system, the secretary reported. The stream into which the tank discharged passed through the grounds of the Masterton West School and thence through the borough. The chairman, Mr H. H. Mawley, said that the health inspector had drawn the board's attention to the matter upon the board taking over "Panama." though the position had existed for some years previously. It was decided to investigate the matter fullv.
