WESTERN HUTT ROAD. RESULT OF HEAVY RAIN. (By Telegraph— Pl-ess Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Heavy rain last night placed a considerable strain on culverts under the recently-formed Western Hutt Road and some flooding occurred in places up to a depth of as much as fifteen inches. Just north of Belmont, a side road slipped away and effectually blocked the new highway. The - Hutt River is running some seven feet above normal, but the serious flood level is seven or eight feet more. The wind has turned to the south and no danger is anticipated There is no flooding sufficient to affect road traffic, but the slip on the Western Hutt Road will block that route all dav.
