WARD OVERCROWDED
MUN’S ACCOMMODATION I CONDITIONS AT GREYTOWN HOSPITAL. “A BLACK HOLE OF CALCUTTA." ' — “The ward is a regular black hole of j Calcutta.” said Mr J. E. Thompson, re-j (erring at today’s meeting of the: Wairarapa Hospital Board to the) crowded accommodation and general' inconvenience of the men's ward at» the Greytown Hospital. Mr Thompson' said that there were 18 patients in a j ward, al the most, 30ft. by 30ft. The I room was originally a women's ward' containing five beds, and to increasei the accommodation a wide verandah j had been built some years-ago, to the serious detriment of ventilation and’ light.
