WEDDING
McCANN—HOPE. St. Matthew’s Church. Masterton. was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday, when Noela Annie, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Hope. Masterton. was married to Erol Anzac. youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. McCann, Carterton. The church was tastefully decorated by Mrs R. Hatch with bowls of shaded hydrangeas. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines, with a train, while the back was completed with satin covered buttons. The embroidered tulle veil (lent by her sister) was held in place by a halo of tulle, trimmed with orange blossom. Her beautiful shower bouquet was composed of white roses, white and pink lilies, pink carnations and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by Miss Molly Bannister as bridesmaid and Ngacrc Malmo tniccc of the bride) as flower girl. The bridesmaid wore a frock of lavender organdie over tafetta, made with very full skirt shirred at the waistline, with full puffed sleeves and squtye necked. bodice, trimmed with deeper velvet flowers at the neckline and at the top of the shaped waistband, a narrow velvet sash being tied in front with long ends. The flower girl’s frock was shell pink Swiss-embroidered organdie over tafetta. made with full skirt, puffed sleeves and Peter Pan collar. They both wore pleated organdie halos, and carried bouquets in shades of pink and lavender.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr S. Perfect, of Wellington. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky silver hbrseshoe by her nephew. Peter White. The retention was held at St. Matthew’s Hall, Mrs Hope receiving the guests wearing a navy costume and hat with mauve and pink shoulder spray. Mrs McCann, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy pin striped costume with hat to tone, and shoulder spray of pink roses. After the usual toasts had been honoured, lan Rogers (nephew of the bridegroom) presented the bride with a miniature China bride and bridegroom. Mr and Mrs E. A. McCann were the recipients of many beautiful presents, including several cheques. When they later left for a tour of the North Island. the bride wore a grey costume, with teal blue blouse, hat and coat, and black accessories.
