TRY THIS METHOD.

Remove skins from ■! dozen mediumsized peaches by dropping them in boiling water for 2 or 3 minutes, Boil 1 cup vinegar, 21 level cups brown sugar. a piece of stick cinnamon, about 1 dozen whole cloves. 2 bay-leaves, and a blade of whole mace. Simmer for 10 minutes, then remove spices. Now drop in peaches, a few al a lime, and cook gently until fruit is soft, but not broken. As the fruit is cooked, remove to hot jars; boil syrup again and fill jars to overflowing. Place lid on with a new rubber band. Store in a dry place.
