CARTERTON

BOWLING MASSON MEDALS MATCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) Last evening on the Carterton Bowling green a match was played for the trophies donated to the club by members of the family of the late Mr W. T. Masson. The game was an interesting one throughout. The holders, Messrs E. Smith. T. Underhill. C. J. DeLacey and C. H. Barber (s) retained the trophies by a margin of 5 points from the challengers, Messrs J. L. Harris, A. Thompson, Geo. Riggs and F. Harrington (s). The scores were 14/9. Messrs Pankhurst, Simmonds. Harrington and Riggs left this morning for Wellington where they are playing in the Public Service tourney today. BOY SCOUTS CARD PARTY LAST NIGHT. 'There was an excellent attendance at the Boy Scouts card party held in the band room last evening. The prize winners were: ladies, Mesdames F. O’Keefe 1 and C. Page 2: men’s section: Mrs. Murray (acting), 1: Mr. M. Ticehurst 2. Italian Post Card. Yesterday the manager of the Carterton branch of the “Times-Age" was shown an Italian post card. This card was picked up in the Egyptian desert during one of the raids on the Italian strongholds, and was posted with other matter to a relative in Carterton. The card was sent from Italy to a soldier and the matter on it is written in the Italian language. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs L. M. Clark, of Garrison Street, who have been on holiday spent in Auckland, have returned to Carterton. Mr G. C. Martin, son of Mr and Mrs W. Martin, of Rexwood Street. Carterton. who recently gained his M.S.C. degree, has been appointed temporary assistant at the Wairarapa College. Masterton. Miss Grace Bradbury has been appointed to the staff of a Wellington firm and has left for the Empire city Mr. and Mrs. F. O’Keefe have received a cablegram from their son, Randal, saying that me has arrived safely at his destination.
