PATRIOTIC APPEAL
QUEEN CARNIVAL CAMPAIGN
DONATIONS OF PRODUCE.
STATEMENT BY MAYOR
The following statement regarding contributions of produce to the Queen Carnival campaign was made this morning by the Mayor. Mr T. Jordan; "At a meeting of the District Patriotic Committee on Friday evening last it was arranged that in’ the stock drive for farmers being organised by the Associated Auctioneers individual farmers should bo requested, through the medium of the several district committees, to indicate to which queen he wishes his contribution to be allocated and effect would be given to his wishes. All the queens were represented and the arrangement arrived at reflected credit on the carnival spirit of the committee. The question of produce was not discussed at the meeting. I have noticed an advertisement in the press relating to an appeal for produce from farmers and it occurs to me that it would be in keeping with the spirit of Friday's meeting that the same procedure should be followed with regard to this and the farmer indicate his preference in each case,so that his contribution may reach ’jts royal destination."
