CLAY BIRD COMPETITIONS , MEETING AT WAINGAWA. I D. TAYLOR IN GOOD FORM. Members of the Wairarapa Gun Chib held a clay bird meeting on the club's’ well appointed ground at Norfolk! Road, Waingawa, at the weekend ' There was a good attendance of members and despite the wind there was: some excellent shooting. The principal! match was the fifteen bird ladies'j trophy competition which was won by I D. Taylor, of Carterton. who broke all: his “clays,’’ eleven with the first barrel' and 4 with the second. The runners-up: wore Messrs W H Smmd--i> ii Nitz., and J. Curiam, who with one miss each’ tired off for the second trophy. Curtain! dropped out after his sixth shot and: Nitz and Saunders carried on until the former missed at the 13th round Theladies who held the lucky Ist and '.'.rid tickets were Mrs McKenzie, Senr . who! drew Taylor and Mrs Manley, who drew Saunders Both received very handsome prizeIn presenting the prizes Mr C Gn-y said the ladies' trophy competition w.c,the first of a erics that would be fired; i ri the new grounds The idea of thi ladies' matches was to get the Indie-! interested with a view to forming a' ladies' committee for the club's otTici.M opening day on Saturday.
