FEATHERSTON

FAREWELL GATHERING REV. AND MRS. J. T. HOLLAND. (“Times-Age" Special.) The parishioners of St. John's Church met in the parish hall after service last evening to bid farewell to Rev. and Mrs. J. T. Holland, who will leave the district tomorrow. Mr. D. 11. S. Riddiford. vicar’s warden. referred in terms of appreciation of the services both Mr. and Mrs. Holland had rendered the parish during their three years' sojourn in Featherston. He asked Mr. Holland to accept a cheque which. Mr. Riddiford said, in j the old days., would be called "a purse of sovereigns.” from the parishioners ; of St, John. ’ Mr. Holland suitably replied. Mr. and Mrs. Holland were accorded musical honours. The Ladies' Guild provided supper. Swimming Carnival. Entries for the swimming carnival: which is to be held tonight in aid of i patriotic funds, continue to be recciv- i ed. A large attendance is anticipated., Personal. Miss Alice Johnson is visiting Car- 1 terton. Successful Dance. j The swimming club's dance held on i Saturday night was a success, there! being a good attendance. The M.C. was Mr. J. Matthews and Mrs. Moran supplied the music. Ex-* tras were played by Misses G. Fraser and C. Saba. The Monte Carlo dance was won by ‘ Mr. M. Benton and Miss M. Hyland. ■ and the lucky spote dance by Mr. MJ Viles and Miss N. Watson.

Tne ladies' committee provided supper.
