COMBATING INFLUENZA
IMPORTANT AMERICAN DISCOVERY.
VACCINE AVAILABLE TO BRITISH ARMY
A vaccine that is at least partly effective in immunising human beings
against one of the two viruses of influenza has been discovered l\v research workers of the Rockefeller Foundation in America. Highly encouraging results were achieved when more than 190 volunteers — healthy young men and women were injected with this vaccine and exposed to infection.
The “New York Times" states that the Rockefeller Foundation “is preparing to make available large quantities of the vaccine 10 combat a war-bred influenza" and will make available a million doses for the British Army, if requested to do so, The British authorities have indicated formally their desire to try the vaccine.
