An Italian communique says: "During violent encounters south-east of Derna, Italian troops considerably damaged enemy tanks and armoured cars, and air formations bombed and machine-gunned enemy artillerj' and mechanised concentrations. ‘Fighting continues strongly on the Sudan front." GENERAL WAVELL CONFIRMATION OF VISIT TO GREECE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 12.5 p.m.) RUGBY. January 27. It is confirmed in London that General Sir A. Wavell recently .visited Athens for the purpose of conferring on certain aspects of the aid which Britain has been giving and is continuing to give to Greece.
