CROQUET CLUB — COM PETIT!ONS AR R A NGE D. ("Times-Age" Special.) The Greytown Croquet Club held a meelmg *in the Park Pavilion yesterday afternoon, when Mrs H. G. Carter presided over a good attendance of members. A "competition afternoon" was arranged for Saturday afternoon, and honorary members are to be invited. The half hour tournament games are to be held on Saturday. February 1. The lawns arc in very good order in [ spite of the dry weather. Personal Items. In view of her approaching marriage Miss Vera Hawke was presented with a beautiful silver cake basket from the congregation of the Morison's Bush Church. Miss Hawke has been organist there for a number of years. Mr Herod made the presentation on behalf of the church members. A very pleasant time was spent at the Morison's Bush Hall last evening, when Miss Vera Hawke was tendered a kitchen tea prior to her approaching marriage to Mr W. Svenson. of Morison’s Bush. The time was spent in dancing, and two dances were won as follows: —Monte Carlo. Miss D. Bennett and Mr lan Burch; lucky spot. Miss V. Thompson and Mr lan Burch. There were visitors from Wellington. Levin and Masterton. During the evening Miss Hawke opened the many parcels assisted by Mr Svenson. who. on behalf of Miss Hawke and himself, thanked their many friends for their kindness. Supper was served by the Morison's Bush ladies. Constable and Mrs Gregor, accompanied by their two daughters, have; arrived back in Geytown after a fortnight spent in New Plymouth. Mrs A. Haigh has returned from a short visit to Hawke's Bay. Mr Alex Haigh. son of Mr and Mrs, A. Haigh, has left for the Weraroa R.A.F. Training School. Miss Stephens. Main Street, has left, for a holiday which is to be spent at Eastbourne. Mrs E. Haigh. accompanied by her daughter. Miss K. Haigh. is in Hastings spending a holiday.
