MADE BY THE GREEKS IN ALBANIA CAPTURES IN KLISURA REGION. ' MATERIAL & MANY PRISONERS. In Albania, the 8.8. C. reports, activities are limited to local Greek successes. The Greeks have taken •further fortified heights beyond Klisura, together with large quan--1 tities of war material and many . prisoners. There was no Italian air activity on I Saturday in Albania. SEVERE WEATHER IMPOSING RESTRICTIONS , ON OPERATIONS. MUSSOLINI'S POLITICAL EFFORTS. I LONDON. January 19. The Greeks have made new gains in | the Tepelene area and also in the reI gion beyond Klisura. but the advances : are local owing to severe weather re- ■ striding large-scale operations. The . Italians are moving supplies from the Klisura region, presumably as a pre- . caution against repetition of large losses. Italian counter-attacks were rei pelled with '“terrific losses.’’ A Greek patrol captured an entire Italian patrol j of equal strength. According to Official Wireless, sub- ! stantial Greek successes arc announced in an Athens communique, which states that "in the course of ooerations which were to our advantage we occupied points in fortified territory and captured 1000 prisoners, including a number of officers and Colonel MencgI hetti. who commands the 70th Regii merit of the 70th Division, known as I the “Wolves of Tuscany." j The "Wolves of Tuscany" were reI cently disembarked in Albania, and I Athens radio states that prisoners . from their ranks admitted that Greek ■ torpedoes sank the big Italian liners' i Lombardi and Liguria carrying troops across the Adriatic.
“The Times" correspondent on the Italian frontier says Signor Mussolini, in an effort to close up breaches between the Fascists and the army, made daily conciliatory visits on four days to wounded from Albania in the Apj ulia region. The promotion of Crown Prince I Umberto similarly is an effort to close i differences between the Fascists and ! the Royal Family, which is reputed to .bo bitterly hostile to Fascism. Dipj lomatie circles believe the promotion i is an attempt to kill rumours that the Royal Family is awaiting the first ! opportunity to overthrow the Fascists. GREEK COMMUNIQUE — I (Received This Dav. 11.12 a.m.) RUGBY. January 19. A communique, issued from Greek headquarters on Saturday night, says: i “Local operations were carried out to our advantage."
